Ingredients
Just 7 easy-to-find ingredients come together in this dip. The flavors will remind you of creamy buffalo wings.
- Shredded Chicken: Any homemade or rotisserie chicken, shredded into smaller pieces.
- Greek Yogurt: Non-fat plain Greek yogurt, which makes it extra creamy. This replaces some of the cream cheese you typically find in buffalo chicken dip for a lighter option.
- Buffalo Sauce: Use your favorite buffalo wing sauce or even Franks Redhot sauce.
- Cream Cheese: You'll need half a block of cream cheese. You can use regular or ⅓ less fat. To make it even lighter, you can substitute for more Greek yogurt.
- Blue Cheese or Ranch Dressing: I love blue cheese dressing, but you could use ranch dressing. Both are delicious options.
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese: You'll mix some into the dip and use the rest on top. Use your favorite shredded cheddar or a mixture of your favorite cheese like pepper jack or colby jack.
- Green Onion: Sliced green onion to garnish the top. This is completely optional, but it gives a nice pop of color and flavor.

My Favorite Way to Make Shredded Chicken
I love making shredded chicken in the oven. It's super easy and only takes 20 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Slice 2 chicken breasts in half lengthwise to make four thinner pieces. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and lightly season with sea salt.
Bake for 15-18 minutes or until cooked through. Using two forks, shred the chicken. Read more about shredding chicken.
How to Make Buffalo Chicken Dip with Greek Yogurt
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Spray an 8-inch or 9-inch baking dish with olive oil.
- Combine the shredded chicken, greek yogurt, buffalo sauce, cream cheese, blue cheese or ranch dressing, and ½ cup of cheddar cheese in a large bowl. Pour into the prepared baking dish.
- Top with remaining cheddar cheese. Bake for 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the dip is bubbly.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and an extra drizzle of buffalo sauce and dressing. (optional) Serve with your favorite chips, crackers, and veggies for dipping.
Expert Tip: Top buffalo chicken dip with a drizzle of buffalo sauce, blue cheese or ranch dressing, and sliced green onions just before serving.
Variations
- Swap out the cheese. Swap out the cheddar for a mixture of your favorite cheeses. Some good options are pepper jack, mild cheddar, sharp cheddar, Colby jack, and Monterey jack. You can also add some blue cheese crumbles or crumbled feta on top.
- Make it extra spicy. Want to give it more of a kick? Add in some additional hot sauce or diced jalapeño.
- Stir in some cilantro. Chop up some fresh cilantro and stir it into the chicken dip mixture before baking for an extra bright flavor.
